Sustainability
At M P Rogers & Associates we prioritise sustainability in our consulting engineering services. Our objective is to minimise impacts on the natural environment and consider factors such as community well-being, economic health and design excellence in our work. We embrace the “One Planet” Sustainability Principles, which encompass culture and community, equity and local economy, health and happiness, land use and wildlife, local and sustainable food, materials and products, travel and transport, sustainable water, zero carbon energy, and zero waste.
Our consultancy services are guided by these principles. We also emphasise the importance of maintaining clean marine ecosystems, ensuring water quality and reducing the impact on coastal ecosystems. Our team is experienced in working with marine habitats and marine parks, demonstrating responsible design and minimising environmental impacts.

Reused, Recycled & Sustainably Sourced Materials
At M P Rogers & Associates, we prioritise the best use of materials, including recycling and reusing materials whenever possible. We have successfully implemented strategies to minimise waste and reduce environmental impact in various projects. For example, we utilised special dredging methods to eliminate the need for landfill disposal of organic silts in the Albany Waterfront Marina project. By using locally sourced rock for breakwaters in Port Coogee, we reduced the need for extending quarries and landfill disposal. We have also adjusted specifications to reduce turbid plumes during construction, installed groundwater interception systems to protect seagrasses, and repurposed waste rock from landfills for construction projects. Our commitment to sustainable material use has resulted in cost savings, reduced carbon footprints and improved environmental outcomes.

Working in Regional Areas – Maximizing the Benefit
M P Rogers & Associates has a strong history of working with regional clients and engaging local suppliers whenever possible. We strive to maximise social and economic benefits for local communities in all regional projects. This includes purchasing goods and services within the applicable regions and collaborating with local contractors to utilise available resources and equipment. We aim to support regional economies by employing local consultants, sourcing materials from local suppliers and providing upskilling opportunities for regional contractors. Through this approach, we achieve positive outcomes for our clients, foster local job creation and contribute to the development of regional communities.

Indigenous Culture & Engagement
Recognising and celebrating Indigenous culture is integral to our work at M P Rogers & Associates. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land on which we live and work, and strive to removing inequities and gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. We prioritise the recognition and understanding of Aboriginal heritage in our projects, considering sites of significance and engaging in consultation with Indigenous groups. By incorporating recommendations from Indigenous representatives, we aim to improve Indigenous recognition and celebrate their culture. We support Indigenous education, training, and employment, and have been active donors to the Wirrpanda Foundation, which focuses on empowering Indigenous individuals. Through our commitment to Indigenous engagement, we achieve better project outcomes and contribute to the well-being of Indigenous communities.
